Your new home has a pre-installed security system
Many times after you purchase a home, you’ll see that the old owners left a home security system. All the devices work, are placed in the best spaces, and are ready to go. In this instance, all you might have to do is to call and set up a new service contract. A Vivint installer will still show up to ensure there are no integration problems, and they might offer suggestions on an upgrade or two. It's a preliminary visit, and you can get your alarm monitoring set up without worrying about any new alarms and cameras -- unless you get some new devices.
The old homeowners can give an existing Vivint contract to you for a small transfer fee to make your life simpler. If the outgoing residents are moving to an apartment or smaller home, transferring the Vivint contract may be a condition of the sale.
You need to move and take your existing devices with you
You may need to bring your old smart devices with you to a new house when you move. It should be fairly simple to accomplish, as most components are plug and play. You can remove each component by yourself or use a Vivint installer to take down your devices. Then a pro will hang the same devices -- and any new things you need -- in the new place. The home security contract will keep the same.
